The Cameras. The Subjects. An About Page.

On August 25th, 2013 I moved to Zhengzhou, China. Unfortunately, I had to leave the Canon behind. It wasn’t my camera. It belonged to my work where I took photographs of new products clothing, earrings, etc. I was also able to get some of my own photos in the process. But, at the end of the day the camera always returned to the rightful owner.

I was using a Canon EOS REBEL T1i and I really loved it. I love the weight and I think it takes clear amazing photos. I’m very much an amateur, but the quality that the Canon gave to a picture made me feel like I could do pro work. I would love to buy my very own, but the canon is not in the budget and won’t be for awhile.

I had to wait for a couple of months before being able to purchase a new camera, but during the interim of wait time a friend loaned me his EX-ZS5. My first few photos of China are using this little camera.

Once I had a few RMB in my pocket, I purchased a Casio EX-ZR700. It was in my budget and fits easily into my pocket, and if some unfortunate damage occurs to the camera I’ll be sad, but not as devastated as I would be if I saved all my RMBs for the Canon Rebel (that would be a lot of RMBs).

There is of course a huge change in my photos from here on out. I no longer have the luxury of picking and choosing my friends to be models by tempting them with fun clothing and a bottle of wine. I’ve never been one for taking scenery shots. I feel like I don’t have the talent to make these interesting, but never the less scenery will be my new subject. The Casio camera is new to me and I’m not very accustom to it plus I prefer using a view finder to the screen (I think it helps me take a steadier shot) but I’m learning.

A lot has changed, but it’s still Simple.

  1. Noticed your Blog. I shoot a Pentax K10D DSLR with 6 different Lens and also a Nikon P600. I’ve been around the Pacific years ago while serving in the US Navy. I love snooping around Historic places that are near my home. Be Well. I’ll be watching.
